flattering when I have this on. It is also grate for faces when doing nail art.
This claims to be opaque in one coat but I find that is a bit streaky so I
usually have to do two coats and the formula is a bit thick, however this is

I’m a big fan of Christine
from <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/simplynailogical/featured" target="_blank">simplenailological</a> and she does this r<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xISCAe8YwtQ" target="_blank">eciprocal gradient design </a>(top left in above image) that I
love so I decided to give it a try myself. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
I was also at my
sisters this week so I used all of her polishes. My sister also had this flaky
glitter polish that I wanted to use as an accent nail.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now all my nails
broke while I was on holiday as I wasn’t taking as good care of them so that’s
why they all look shorter. and i dint have my good camera with me so the photo quality is not the best (sorry).<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ok so first up, I
applied Orly color care top + base coat as my base coat, this works well as a
base coat but not as good as a top coat. and then took a piece of sellotape put
it on m y skin a few times so that it wasn’t so sticky then cut the strip into
thirds along the long side. This is an improvised thick striping tape as I
don’t have any real striping tape. I repeated this as I wanted a total of 6
strips.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then applied one
coat of Aura bye Natio as by base colour to all my nails except my ring finger
where I applied plum colour.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On a sponge I then
applied plum colour in the Revlon nail art duo in moon candy and Aura and
sponged it on to create a gradient with Aura at my cuticle. On my pointer,
middle and pinkie.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On my ring finger I
then applied the flaky glitter Satellite from the Revlon nail art duo in moon
candy on top and on my thumb I applied another coat of Aura and then the flaky
glitter on top.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For each gradient
nail I then applied the tape down the centre (on my pinkie the tape was too
thick so I applied it at an angle. Then
over the tape I sponged on the same gradient as before but in reverse so that Aura
was at the tips of my nail this time.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then immediately pulled
off the tape to create the reciprocal look.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Then as I was going
my other hand I spilt the plum polish on the carpet! So after some quick
googling I dabbed it with a dry tissue until nothing more came out then wet a
different tissue with rubbing alcohol and dabbed at it until no more came out
then sprayed hair spray on the stain and scrubbed at this with cold soapy water
until the stain was gone. I then dabbed it dry with a rag. This worked
reasonably well and I’m sorry I didn’t keep the links but I was panicking.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Anyway so after all
that my nails weren’t in the best shape the polish had been smudged so I tried to
fix it with more polish and then with a clean-up brush dipped in nail polish on
whether to remove any mistakes and it mostly worked. As you can see from the
photos I mostly got the effect I was going for but it’s not as nicely blended and
the lines aren’t as clean as I would like. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then used Natio
top and base coat as by top coat (see my <a href="http://spacecatsandnailart.blogspot.co.nz/2016/01/empty-nail-polish-bottles.html" target="_blank">empty nail polish bottle</a>s post to see
why it’s not in its original bottle) then cleaned up around my nails and I was
all done. <o:p></o:p></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I like the colour
combination of this look and I like the reciprocal gradient look, however there
are some problems due to the spillage disaster and resultant clean up so I may
try and do this look again sometime in the future.<o:p></o:p></div>

Also this week I made
another batch of cuticle oil as my supply was starting to run low. I used the

a thick black line to one side of my nail with Sally Hansen xtreme wear - 370

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
So I watch<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z75fuZZzppw" target="_blank"> jenny Clear Fox</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG0QFf6Yhc0" target="_blank">MissHollyBerrys </a>YouTube video on jelly sandwich nails and a year ago I
tried to do it too. As you can see from the photo I chose a jelly and a cream
polish that I thought it would be sheer enough to do this with and it didn’t really
work. Recently I decided to try it again as I had this pink jelly polish that I
hadn’t used yet.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p><br /></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So what is a jelly
sandwich? You ask. Well it’s when you jelly polishes with a glitter topper to
create a look with glitter inside the polish. Usually you put two layer of
jelly polish down, then a chunky glitter and the finally another layer of
jelly, however you can mix it up with creams on the bottom or micro glitters.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p><br /></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So fist I had to
choose the colours I wanted to use. Now shockingly you have to use jelly
polishes for this. Now choosing jelly is actually harder than I first thought
as shown my first attempt. A jelly is a polish that on its first coat has
colour but you can see through it. You can see your nail line and another markings
on your nails. They usually take three coats to become opaque, sometimes
more. A good thing to do is to test you
the jelly sandwich on either a nail wheel or on tows. For this attempt I chose
to use a cheap pink jelly polish by colour couture nail polish that I was given
and never used, and <span style="color: #010101; font-size: 11.5pt; line-height: 107%;">Sally Hansen triple shine drama sheen.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="color: #010101;"><span style="font-size: 15.3333px; line-height: 16.4067px;"><br /></span></span><span style="color: #010101; font-size: 11.5pt; line-height: 107%;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="color: #010101; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Now onto the actual manicure. As always I applied OPI
chip skip</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;"> then a layer of <span style="color: #010101;">Orly color care nail strong</span>
as my base coat. I then applied two coats of <span style="color: #010101;">drama
sheen to my ring finger and two coats of the </span></span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">colour
couture nail polish to all other fingers. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">I then borrowed OPI blush hour from my friend. This is a pink and purple
hex glitter with smaller silver hex glitter and very small blue hex glitter in
a pink tinted base. I applied one coat of this to all fingers. The base on this
polish is tinted so make sure you cover the whole nail in the base otherwise
the colour will be different when you layer the next jelly on top. I dint do a
very good job of this on some nails and you can definitely tell.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">Then then added another layer of the jelly polish on top to create the
effect that the glitter was inside the polish, so the colour couture nail
polish to all except my ring finger which I put </span><span style="color: #010101; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">drama sheen on it.</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">I then added </span><span style="color: #010101; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Rimmel London finishing touch</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;"> to all fingers
as my top coat.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">Now this has a total of six layers of polish on it. So it take a while
to dry. I dint let it dry long enough before starting to do other things and
after I took this photo I smudged by pointer finger and on my other hand I smudged
my thump and middle finger. So let it sit. I also think that the </span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">colour
couture nail polish didn’t dry properly propyl due to it being so cheap which would
be a contributing factor.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oWEQwl5kHx4/VwsawklEhBI/AAAAAAAAASg/MDHCgc4swTokp4Pv1Sd5HwNAwkUnAC-4A/s1600/DSCF3709.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oWEQwl5kHx4/VwsawklEhBI/AAAAAAAAASg/MDHCgc4swTokp4Pv1Sd5HwNAwkUnAC-4A/s320/DSCF3709.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
So overall I
consider this a success as I do rather like the look this gives now that I have
done it successfully and I dot to use the jelly polishes that otherwise don’t get
a lot of use.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
I have been seeing
a lot of these triangle styed nails around recently and decided to give it a go
myself.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I decided to use <span style="color: #010101; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">chi chi salon formula -sophisticated

a long time and decided it was time to try it out again and this random sheer nude
colour from models prefer because I haven’t actually used it yet. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Ok so first
I applied OPI chip skip as I always do as it helps my mini last longer then
Orly <span style="color: #010101;">color care nail strong</span> as by base coat.
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
i knew I
wanted to use tape to create straight lines for the triangles. Now I don’t have
any nail vinyls but a hack to get around this is to used regular tape and stick
it on the back of your hand a few times so that its less sticky then cut out
the space you want, in this case triangles. I then stuck these to the side of
my desk and continued paining my nails.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then
applied three cotes of the models prefer polish. I knew that it was going to be
sheer going into this design but it is very sheer, in three coats you can still
quite easily see my nail line (as show my ring finger) but it’s does have a
very strong pink shimmer in it which does kind of distract form it (maybe?). Any
way mixed feelings about this colour.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then
applied top coat to all my nails and let that dry. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then put the tape
stencils on my nails and painted the <span style="color: #010101; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">sophisticated sassy polish on top. For my ring
finger I used the cut out section of the triangle instead of the stencil to
create the inverse look.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="color: #010101; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">I
then applied</span><span style="color: #010101;"> </span><span style="color: #010101; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">Rimmel London finishing touch</span> as my<span style="color: #010101;"> top coat to all
my nails and I was done.</span><o:p></o:p></div>

<span style="color: #010101; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">The
sophisticated sassy needs two coats to be completely even and the same colour
as in the bottle and I only did one coat. That’s why you can see patches where it’s
darker on some nails and I probably should have doe another coat to avoid that.
However it is still an amazing colour with shredded micro glitter in it that
really compliments the pink shimmer in the models prefer polish.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="color: #010101; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;">Over
all this is a simple design that is still really pretty. I have been thinking
about doing this design for a couple of weeks now so it’s good to finally have
it on my nails.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

So I was watching <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/Nailpolishbabyy90/videos" target="_blank">NailpolishBabyyNinety</a> on youtube and she mentioned doing a first polish from each brand
in her collection video, and I thought that it was a very good idea and so
decided to do a blog post in that style.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Keep I’m mind my
collection is relatively small (70 ish polishes) and that I’m only doing brans

<div class="MsoNormal">
So the first legit
nail polish I brought was <span style="color: #010101;">chi
chi salon formula - single white female</span>. I brought this when I decided to stop using my sister’s nail polish
and start buying my own. I was already into nail art and I didn’t like the
white nail polish she used (I like never dried) so I got my own white. This
polish is opaque in 2 cotes for me and has a nice smooth formula and it
actually drive!</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
The next
brand I tried was Orly. I wanted a strengthening base coat as my nails are
always pealing and breaking so I got <span style="color: #010101;">Orly color
care nail strong. I did like using this as a base coat and I am getting the
last of it you using one of the empty bottles I brought a while ago (see my
empty nail polish bottles blog post). It didn’t stop may nails from pealing or

next brand I tried was Natio nail colour. I brought this polish as it was on
clearance and I needed a red that matched a dress I was going to where to an
event, so I picked up Natio nail colour – scarlet</span>. This is such a nice red polish. It is opaque in one coat and I’m
nearly out as I brought a mini polish and I don’t know what I’m going to do
about it. I would highly recommend this polish if you can find it as the red

brand I tried was Sally Hansen with their big shiny top coat. I don’t have a

I ordered a
bunch of polishes from smelly cat a couple of years ago and in that I got my
first three Rimmel London polishes, Diamond dust, Misty jade and Apricot punch.
Misty jade and Apricot punch are beautiful straight cream colours that are
opaque in two coats. Diamond dust is one of (if not my most) favourite nail
polishes I have. It’s a black and silver micro glitter in a clear base with
larder holographic hexes in it and it’s so sparkly, pretty and eye catching in
only 2 coats. <o:p></o:p></div>

My only
complain about theses polishes is that there only 8ml bottles, I have minis the

So its Easter weekend and I was feeling a bit uninspired

went back and did a forth on some nails, now as someone who doesn’t like to do
more than 2 cotes at most this took way too long. However then next morning my
nails looked completely opaque, so it may have been the bad lighting or it
dried more opaque or the topcoat brought out the shiner more, I don’t know they
looked good when they were completely dry, however as I had so much polish on
my nails some did smudge but you can’t tell in the photos.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ;"><br /></span></div>

polish, pale purple contrasted with bright purple shiner in it is quite pretty

such a light colour. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Hi everyone,<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As you may of scene in my recent haul post my friend Hayley
got me 3 sets of nail stickers for my birthday. I have had sally hanson nail
stickers before but not this Glossy Blossom brand. So I immediately wanted to
give it a try.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p><br /></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
First up I wanted to try the sweetheart stickers. I also
brought some new OPI polish around the same time so wanted to use them as well
so I peered the sweet heart sticker with OPIs Cosmo with a twist and this was
the result.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FsoXLtJZUqQ/Vu3vo-mAg-I/AAAAAAAAAPY/TjpXx0Mrnp4OUTSAS-JKzHi-QxIiH1NTw/s1600/DSCF3628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FsoXLtJZUqQ/Vu3vo-mAg-I/AAAAAAAAAPY/TjpXx0Mrnp4OUTSAS-JKzHi-QxIiH1NTw/s320/DSCF3628.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p> </o:p>You can kind of tell from the photos that there are some
bubbles in the sticker, because apparently I can’t do stickers properly. For this design I tried to smooth them out
with just my finger and it didn’t really work.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Also I find that nail sticker don’t really seem to last long
these started pealing up on day 2 and by day 4 it was bothering me so much they
I took all the stickers off.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Pc4yWiNLT_c/Vu3vn-yXIJI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/Qw1HlN3uv7wSbJop9QMtqRfivrCZx3-0Q/s1600/DSCF3635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Pc4yWiNLT_c/Vu3vn-yXIJI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/Qw1HlN3uv7wSbJop9QMtqRfivrCZx3-0Q/s320/DSCF3635.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p><br /></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The next design I tried was the pattern star cluster. These
stickers are see though so the idea is that you can put a colour underneath. So
I chose to put my new OPI Guys and galaxies which is a dark red/brown ox blood
red colour which is so pretty. On my pinkie and ring I put a silver stud in the
center of my nail and silver dots on either side. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This design I pushed down with an orange stick, but even though
I waited like 30 minutes before I put the stickers on the polish seeped up
under the bubbles and got pushed out when I tried to smooth them out so there
are some lighter under some of the stickers. But overall I think there were a few
less bubbles<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This design started pealing up on day 1. This may be due to
me cleaning the kitchen that day but I still wasn’t impressed. However as most
of the stick was clear I could cut off the pealing up part and it not affect
the silver stars usually, it just looks like I have got chipped nails.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PICt35afq28/Vu3voPnaGHI/AAAAAAAAAPU/XKdw31uNSiAidKLcy9LVHODmjdIi3d7gA/s1600/DSCF3647.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PICt35afq28/Vu3voPnaGHI/AAAAAAAAAPU/XKdw31uNSiAidKLcy9LVHODmjdIi3d7gA/s320/DSCF3647.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
The final set of stickers I got was this blue and white polka
dot design (it doesn’t seem to have a name) I peered this with a blue and white
gradient. The blue I used looked a lot closer to the blue on the stickers on
the bottle than on my nails, but what can you do about it?<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
First I applied OPI chip skit to all my nails to remove any
oils on my nails. I then applied the stickers to my thumb, pointer and middle
fingers. I tried to make sure that there were no bubbles at the tips of my
nails to ty and make then last longer but the trade off as you can see is that
there are some bigger bubbles on the sides and base of my nails now. My nails are
just too curved for them to sit nicely! I then applied some top cote on top of
the ticker which I haven’t done previously. The instructions don’t say to do
this so I haven’t in the past but I thought I would give it a go and see if
they last better.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I applied my base cote <span style="color: #010101; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Orly
color care nail strong and</span> two coats of <span style="color: #010101; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-NZ; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">chi chi
salon formula in blue to my ring and pinkie finger then applied more blue and chi
chi salon formula - single white female onto a piece of sponge and then dabbed it
onto these nails to create the gradient. This don’t show up very well on camera
but trust me there ae is definitely two colours there. Then added my top Rimmel
London finishing touch.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>

pretty and a fast and easy way to get intricate designs on your nails. However they
only last a couple of days at best and don’t stand up to any hard work like
doing the dishes well. They also are hard to get to lie flat for me, I think
this is due to how curved my nails are as I always got bubbles no matter how I
tried to smooth them out. So I will uses up the ones I’ve got but I don’t think
I will buy more when I love doing free hand designs more and they last longer.</span></div>

If you saw my post
on DIY cuticle oil then you saw how I ran out of cuticle oil so followed a
recipe to make some more for me and a couple of small bottles to give as gifts.
Well I went through the oil that I made. So I decided to make some more DIY
cuticle products.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mA2Ir5e5k2A/VraGTMcnQzI/AAAAAAAAAM4/GL05bfkq0ac/s1600/DSCF3556.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="274" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mA2Ir5e5k2A/VraGTMcnQzI/AAAAAAAAAM4/GL05bfkq0ac/s320/DSCF3556.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p><br /></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
So first up I
looked on <a href="http://www.sheknows.com/beauty-and-style/articles/1080366/diy-cuticle-creams">SheKnows </a>and found a very simple recipe for Coconut
Lavender Cuticle Balm. All you need to do is melt some coconut oil, add some
lavender essential oil, and put in an empty lip gloss container and freeze it. Easy as! <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I followed the
recipe and had enough to fill a large lip gloss gar that I got at a cheap store
and partially fill a small empty lip gloss container. I then put out a sticker
label for both of them and they are good to go.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As this is made of
mostly coconut oil it WILL MELT in hot weather but you can always put it back
in the fridge to make it solid again.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LwwuGxVRtdI/VraGT4ZRNMI/AAAAAAAAAM8/0bsyBhBB-SI/s1600/DSCF3551.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LwwuGxVRtdI/VraGT4ZRNMI/AAAAAAAAAM8/0bsyBhBB-SI/s320/DSCF3551.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XQ9GIY3hC4Q/VraGctkM3bI/AAAAAAAAANE/ijQDKzm61XE/s1600/DSCF3554.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XQ9GIY3hC4Q/VraGctkM3bI/AAAAAAAAANE/ijQDKzm61XE/s320/DSCF3554.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The second thing I
did was make some more cuticle oil as I apparently eat the stuff. First of all
I put a table spoon of coconut oil, a table spoon of extra vergin olive oil, a few
drops of lemon essential oil and a few drops of peppermint oil in a glass. I then
put this in direct sun light to melt the coconut oil completely and mixed it
all together. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then realised I
had a lot of oil for my 11ml bottle so I cleaned out an empty nail polish
bottle that used to have top coat in it (see my post on empty nail polish
bottles) following the steps in the DIY forests you tube video <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piKNwHt2EFw&feature=iv&src_vid=2UTx-BpxW-4&annotation_id=annotation_876789691">How to Clean OutNail Polish Bottles</a>.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Once I had dome
that I then tipped the cuticle oil into both the bottles and still had some
left! So the last of the oil went into my last 6ml empty hart shape nail polish
bottle.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I then cut out
sticker labels for all of the bottles of cuticle oil and stuck them on.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ok0d0UhKiCQ/VraG31dI7cI/AAAAAAAAANI/vL-pcxVJuj0/s1600/DSCF3547.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ok0d0UhKiCQ/VraG31dI7cI/AAAAAAAAANI/vL-pcxVJuj0/s320/DSCF3547.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

So, sometimes Things
happen and then more nail polish ends just up in my house. It’s a problem. So
here’s a small collective nail polish hall.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
At the start of
January I went shopping with my sister and we made the mistake of going into
farmers and they had heaps of nail polish on clearance so be brought 2 bottles
each. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
The first polish I
got was Chi Chi my bad witch is a black jelly base with 2 small sizes of silver
hex glitter and larger orange hex glitter that flashes green at extreme angles.
I’ve had my eye on this polish for a while now and though I might as well pick
it up on sale.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
The other polish
from farmers is Rimmel London salon pro in the colour punk rock witch is a dark
greyed out purple crème. This is such a cool colour and I didn’t have anything
like it. It does look black or grey on your nails in low light.</div>

My friend had a

It was also my
birthday recently and my friend got me some nail stickers, which are all super
cute.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The first one is
from Glossy Blossom Premium look in sweetheart, which are white and this dark
grey purple colours with hart, dots and lace patterns. Look out for these in an
upcoming manicure. This also comes with a trimming file (see the next one for
the photo).<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
The next one is
form the same line, Glossy Blossom Premium, but in a style with an unknown
name! (Yay) any way they are a white and black polka dot on half the nail and
light blue on the other with a row of silver studs separating the 2 halves. It
also has a trimming file as shown in the photo this time.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
And the last one is
from Glossy Blossom 2 in 1 cover on nails in the pattern star cluster. I hove
stars so this one’s going to be a winner. It has silver star patterns on a
clear backing (that tan colour is just paper) so you can see your nails through
the sticker (not full coverage like the last two). This once again comes with a
trimming file (what am I going to do with all these trimming files?). </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
My sister passed on
to me the Chi Chi pearl bead manicure clear polish as she thought she would
hardly use it as it wasn’t very often she did bead nails and when she did she
could use a normal top coat over the beads to hold them in place rather than
the bead polish.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So I wanted to give
the pearl bead manicure clear polish a go to try it out for myself. And to see
if it could perform as a normal top coat as well.<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I chose the pink
and yellow bead mix from Chi Chi in the bead manicure set and then tried to
choose colours from my collection that matched the beads in the mix. The pink I
chose is a little darker than the beads but other than that I think I did
alright.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S_iF23_57zs/VsPSSdCDLcI/AAAAAAAAAN0/XFHeJstbdI8/s1600/DSCF3578%2B%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S_iF23_57zs/VsPSSdCDLcI/AAAAAAAAAN0/XFHeJstbdI8/s320/DSCF3578%2B%25281%2529.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So after putting
down a layer of chip skip and OPI nail envy as my base coat, I painted my
thumb, pointer and middle finger with 2 coats of pastel yellow polish. It was
still a little patchy on 2 coats but while the second coat was still whet I
dipped my finger into the bead jar, then brushed off any excess beads and
pushed in any overhanging beads. I then applied 2 coats of Chi Chi pearl bead
manicure clear polish to seal the beads in.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On my ring and
pinkie finger I applied 2 coats of pink polish then put stripes of the yellow
and blue polish I chose on top. I probably should have put down a coat of white
first to make the colours brighter as well. The things you realise in
hindsight. I then put a layer of Chi Chi pearl bead manicure clear polish on
top to see if it worked as a top coat. Short version, it doesn’t. The bead
polish is sticky so that the beads stick together but that means your nails can
pick up dust and thing which makes the shine fade, so would not recommend this.
I will use this polish for beads or just a clear polish but not as a top coat.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SvxNRTdGUCY/VsPSSfE3cxI/AAAAAAAAANw/H975LvDL8UU/s1600/yellow%2Bbeads%2B%252810%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SvxNRTdGUCY/VsPSSfE3cxI/AAAAAAAAANw/H975LvDL8UU/s320/yellow%2Bbeads%2B%252810%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This gives a fun
bead manicure, however the beads don’t last long. The beads get caught on
things and lift so Individual beads come off all the time and I had mine on for
almost 2 days before I lost a big chunk of beads. Also the bumpy texture can
take some getting used to.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
I like how putting
down different base colours changes how the manicure looks. In the jar the bead
mix looks a lot darker and the yellow doesn’t stand out much but the yellow
base colour changes it. I previously did a different bead manicure with a
different blue bead mix and put a blue base colour down and this just
emphasised the blue. I would be interested in trying other base colours on both
bead mixes to try other combinations and see how that changes the overall look.<o:p></o:p></div>

The next one is a

was having a clear out and I thought glowing nail polish yes please, but It
turns out that the bottle is a bit old now and it doesn’t glow any more, it
just adds a blue cast over polish and is thick so I’m not going to keep this

I have officially
completely used up my Orly color care cuticle oil so it is time to let this one
go. I tipped the remaining cuticle oil into a small empty nail polish bottle that i brought and took that on holiday with me and lost that on the way back so its completely gone.<br />
I used this for about a year, and I’m really bad at putting it on.
Sometimes I’d put it on daily and other times not for a week but it hydrates
and softens my cuticles and surrounding skin so I loved it and am sad to see it
go.<span style="font-family: "calibri" , sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 107%;">Check

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So after seeing a lot of leopard print nails on Pinterest I’ve
been thinking about doing another leopard print manicure for a while. Then I
was thinking about what colours to do and this neon pink that my friend gave me
popped into my head as I haven’t used it yet, and my sister had this shredded
flaky glitter polish that I’ve bean wanting to uses. And then the inspiration keeps
coming as I remembered seeing a YouTube video by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT27sjmi4NEYRBIRf-fmgow"><span style="background: white; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: #333333; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 107%; padding: 0cm;">Jenny Claire Fox</span></a> called <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP7_-17TOAo">Matte Nail Art♥ Three Easy Ideas! </a> in it she put a matte top coat over a shredded glitter. And all these
elements came together to create this look.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

First off the polish is very thick like jelly and is very hard to move around
and because it’s so thick it dries with lots of bubbles in it witch distracts from
the actual look and to top it off the glitter particles are rather sparse so I
had to do some fishing and placing to get enough glitter particles on my nails
even with two coats. I would not recommend this polish and if you recreate this
look use any other shredded glitter not this one I was very disappointed in it.</span></span><br />

So I’m scraping out
the bottom of my bottle of my Orly color care cuticle and need to replace it.
However I didn’t really want to buy more. I had heard that coconut oil was good
for nails and so did some googling and found this recipe from saynotsweetann (http://saynotsweetanne.com/2012/diy-cuticle-oil-free-printable/)
for a DIY cuticle oil and thought that sounds good, I’ll give it a go.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The first thing I
did was go online and order some empty nail polish bottles (see up coming post Empty nail polish bottles to see how i use them). I got mine from digiflex on trade
me in a set of six so that I could make multiple.<br />
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As I only wanted an
oil not a lotion there were very few steps involved in this and few ingredients
all of which I had at home. I also only wanted to fill one nail polish as a
trial so made a small batch.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This is what I did:<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Melted one teaspoon
of Coconut oil in the oven (don’t have a microwave)<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Then added a few
drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil, orange Essential Oil (instead of grapefruit
oil) and Peppermint Essential Oil<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Mix it together and
tipped into the bottle.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lCSnC6EmEt0/VpHgX16JegI/AAAAAAAAAJo/F7NgcEskGrk/s1600/DSCF3346.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lCSnC6EmEt0/VpHgX16JegI/AAAAAAAAAJo/F7NgcEskGrk/s320/DSCF3346.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I then tried it and
it works well and was very happy with it, but the next morning the coconut oil
had solidified again so I had to melt it again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fiDxb-ggqwI/VpHga72YBXI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/QVFIiOn7Ucs/s1600/DSCF3349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fiDxb-ggqwI/VpHga72YBXI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/QVFIiOn7Ucs/s320/DSCF3349.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NwmOLA-gTHg/VpHgbnwO1BI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/qLdE_qDLQXg/s1600/DSCF3350.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NwmOLA-gTHg/VpHgbnwO1BI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/qLdE_qDLQXg/s320/DSCF3350.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I did this in the oven again
but I will melt in your hands or in direct sunlight, however I found this inconvenient
if I have to do that every morning and not very good as gifts for people. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
So I tried a
different recipe.<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
After a lot of searching
on the internet I found a lot of different recipes with a lot of different
variations of the recipe I used originally. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So in the end I
decided to melt what I had and add a table spoon of olive oil and put it into
the bottles.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
I think this worked
well and I now have 2 little 6ml bottle of cuticle oil to give as gifts and I have put the rest in my old empty ORLY cuticle oil bottle (11ml) with my home made version.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_Tc1krvTEiw/VpHixsOOMxI/AAAAAAAAAKE/Mb-oXFHUy7w/s1600/DSCF3467.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_Tc1krvTEiw/VpHixsOOMxI/AAAAAAAAAKE/Mb-oXFHUy7w/s320/DSCF3467.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
the home made version is less moistening than than my old ORLY cuticle oil, but this was cheep, inexpensive and fun to make and its a good alternative to buying cuticle oil.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>UPDATE:</b><br />
the new formula also freezes over night if it gets cold but this has only happened to me once. (although it has bean summer).</div>

I have been looking
for a better way to store my nail polishes. I have a collection of 54 bottles
(judge me if you want) and they don’t fit on the shelf that they were on as
well as I’m moving and can’t take the shelf with me. So I searched for a DIY
project to make your own nail polish staircase and found this video by gurl.com

this seemed to be the best tutorial/instructions out there but it wasn’t big
